On this page: Teacher Blogs, Student Blogs, and Student Collaborations
Teacher Blogs
Teaching, Training, Learning - Susan Lister's reflections on her technology-based lesson plans and how they play out in class.
Blogging and Time - Barbara Ganley teaches ESL (in a college setting, I believe) and includes nice links to some of the online tools she uses, e.g., online tests and quizzes.
One Teachers' Journey - Mary Hillis does teacher training and reports most recently on the use of wikis, with examples.
Ed Tech Journeys - Pete Reilly's very philosophical deliberations on technology and teaching won the Edublog Awards for Best Newcomer in 2006.
Blended Edu - Maryanne Campo and Derek Baird work for Yahoo! Teachers, but cover a lot of different online tools and offer suggestions for lesson ideas.
Weblog Portfolios - Thomas Leverett's paper on using blogs for e-portfolios will be a nice example for the discussion of online assessment.
eportfolios - Helen Barrett describes how to set up electronic portfolios at her wiki.
Ed-Tech Teacher - Jacqui Cyrus teaches educational technology to teachers in Guam, and mainly describes the tech tools she is trying out. (I had to include her, as she was my student years ago at CSUS.)
CAE B's Podcast - While actually a podcast where students record their thoughts, the text blog makes fascinating reading as the Argentinian students connect with counterparts in the US. Scroll down to April 2006 and Mauricio's entry to begin reading about the outcomes of the project.
Getting to Know Brazil - 3rd graders and adult ESL students exchanged photos and answered each other's questions. At this age, the teacher needed to help out a lot.
Let's Blog - Instead of using a blog, the teacher of these 11th graders in Spain had them write in class and then posted their efforts to a Web site at regular intervals. This works where Internet access is hard to come by though it is a lot of work for the teacher.
Rhythm in Architecture - an advanced English for Special Purposes class has their presentations and designs posted to a photo blog. An Edublog Award nominee. The ability of blogs to offer sound and photos as well as text is one of their strong points. You can also embed video.
Dekita.org/Exchange - is a place to find partners in blog-based collaborations. The front page of Dekita has tidbits from classrooms seeking exchange partners or those engaged in exchanges.
